Many of us love pristine nature in all its glory and want to preserve it forever. But we also love our cars, our refrigerators, our well-manicured lawns. So we are slowly pushing away our unspoiled wilderness, and we now have to travel--in our cars--quite some distance to find it.

Nature has always inspired art, from the earliest cave paintings to the abstractions of the 20th century. I strive to engender the spirit of past landscape artists who found beauty and inspiration in Nature, while recognizing the aesthetic of artists from the Impressionist era through the various styles of the past century.

A master of moving light and shadow, subtle desert hues and tones, and incredibly realistic clouds and mountains, artist Mark Spicak has produced oil paintings of our Mojave Desert landscape that are among the most outstanding ever created.
