Q: How do I know my advertising dollars are working?

A: Here at PlanetPalmSprings.com we have talked to hundreds of successful valley businesses and have discovered that the best way is to simply ASK. This can be extremely effective when a business uses the telephone as a point of contact. Customers call a business for any number of reasons, such as; making dinner reservations, booking a room, inquiring about hours of operation, ticketing for entertainment venues or attractions, product availability and directions.
Employees and proprietors receiving the call can ask, "How did you hear about business name?" Callers can respond easily and will normally know the answer. Taking the idea one step further by keeping a tally of responses can effectively pinpoint which advertising outlets are generating the most traffic.
Because of the nature of many businesses the opportunity to ask customers this important question may not present itself. In the case of a restaurant that does not require reservations it is normally not practical for a waitperson to ask, "Can I take your order and by the way how did you find us?" However, offering "special discounts" in a specific advertising publication can achieve the same results. If this week a business offers "buy one get one free, or 10% off by mentioning this ad," and at the end of the week 500 customers had received the special discount, one can conclude that at least 500 people laid eyes on your advertisement.

Q: Why are you so inexpensive?

A: The owners of PlanetPalmSprings.com began their entrepreneurial careers here in the Palm Springs Area offering other services. After many years, and hundreds of thousands of advertising dollars, it became apparent that advertising was outrageously expensive in the valley. We appear "cheap" or as we prefer inexpensive, because most businesses have become accustomed to these high advertising prices. It is more beneficial (for everyone) to offer advertising to ten customers at $25 a month than it is to offer advertising to only one business for $250 a month. In today's world which option would you choose?

Q: How do you make money?

A: This question usually means, "How are you ever going to be billionaires?" We believe that by working very hard, creating value in our site, and honestly wanting the best for all valley businesses, that we can generate ENOUGH profit to cover costs, keep clothes on our backs, and the lights on. This idea flows together a little with "Why are you so inexpensive?" (answered on this page), which again relies mainly on volume of advertisers.

Q: Why is my information incorrect?

A: At the time a listing is added to our directory all attempts are made to ensure that the name, address, telephone number, and contact data are accurate. Normally, this information comes directly from an advertisement found in a local publication. If necessary, we attempt to verify the data by calling the business, visiting their website, or driving to the location. We encourage all businesses and visitors to Contact Us if they feel our information is incorrect.

Please try and include the correct business name, address and telephone number. Since charities receive placement at no cost, if possible, please provide a logo, and/or photos, or a website address. The information supplied is reviewed and the respective page is edited if necessary.

Q: I would like an event listed in your calendar, how can I add it?

A: Please Contact Us with details. We will review the information and add the event at our discretion. We attempt to only list events in our calendar that are expected to appear, at extremely low cost, or free to the public. Please avoid requests for expensive charity dinners or fundraisers, paid celebrity concerts, or costly seminars. We feel these types of "fee-based" events are best suited for other publications unless organizers are willing to discuss our paid advertising services.

Q: I'm a charity or it's hired marketing firm, where to I send my text description or photos?

A: PlanetPalmSprings.com will create a Silver Page at no cost and make available to the charity administration contact the username and password to allow the upload of information, photos, and logos. We encourage direct contact with charity organizers and their hands-on approach to their directory listing.
