Located in an area straddling two cites, Palm Desert & Indian Wells, the zoo is an unique and remarkable achievement designed to change how we see “the desert.”
Visitors to this zoological parks animal & garden exhibits will discover and learn about hundreds of various endangered and non-endangered desert mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates (mainly insects) & plants from all around the world. More importantly, we can learn first hand how growing human population, advanced hunting, and other invasive activities affects the delicate balance of desert ecosystems and it’s impact on these natural inhabitants
With an emphasis on educating our leaders & conservationists of tomorrow, children, the preserve has many activites for them to enjoy. An outdoor, interactive playground known as Gecko Gulch, or the Discovery Room which is filled with interesting and interactive desert facts and activites to incite their wonders and imaginations.
Other attractions that mus not be overlooked are the LGB Model Train Display with over 3,000 feet of track, Village TuTu an exact replica of a northeastern Africa hut, and an extraordinary Wildlife Hospital. A visit to the valley would not be complete without discovering all the amazing plants, animals, and people that make it our home. |
